Volunteer

To continue growing our parks and enhance family activities in our area we need volunteers in a variety of areas including working events, securing sponsors, coordinating volunteers, photography, park clean-up, and invasive species removal.


To become a Friends of the Parks volunteer, just register below and check off your areas of interest. We will contact you to follow up with your availability, and add you to our electronic Newsletter mailing list.

Volunteer Descriptions

Work Events:  Assist with registration, food service, event coordination, setting up tables, and/or staffing Park information booth.

 

Event Marketing Support:  Assist Park Board with marketing activities such as flyer distribution, phone calls, writing, and other event communication activities.

 

Secure Sponsors:  Make calls to obtain prizes, awards and other donations from area businesses.

 

Volunteer Coordination:  Assist at each event to train and coordinate volunteers in assigned areas and answer questions.

 

Photography:  Volunteer to take photographs for future publicity of Portage Park Events and provide photos electronically for the Park Board.

 

Clean Up:  Pick-up sticks, remove trash, clear pavilions and other park areas for spring clean up and after events.

Invasive Species Removal:  Assist with the removal of species such as Purple Lustrife, Garlic Mustard and vines.
